Oregano Essential Oil

Essential Oils Collective Kate Dixon Doterra

A member of the mint family (Labiatae), medicinal grade oregano is distilled to extract the essential oil and preserve its healing compounds. In fact, it takes over 1,000 pounds of wild to produce just one pound of oregano oil.

The benefits of Oregano extend far beyond flavouring Italian dishes. The anti fungal, anti bacterial, anti viral and antioxidant properties of Oregano make it a real powerhouse. So it should come as no surprise that Oregano is included in the doTERRA Home Essentials Kit. It can be used as a powerful cleansing and purifying agent, provides immune-enhancing benefits, supports healthy digestion and respiratory function, is an excellent source of antioxidants and can help to soften skin.

Oregano blends well with the essential oils of Lavender, Rosemary, Bergamot, Chamomile, Cypress, Cedar Wood, Tea Tree and Eucalyptus.

Popular uses of Oregano:

  • Take one drop daily to boost immunity when seasonal threats are high.

  • Rub Oregano essential oil and fractionated coconut oil on the bottom of your feet to help boost your immune system.

  • Put one drop in place of dried Oregano in spaghetti sauce, pizza sauce, or on a roast.

  • Put 10 drops in a 500ml spray bottle with water for a surface spray.

Due to its composition, Oregano is classed as a HOT oil - always dilute with any application suggestions. Avoid with children under 6 years. Internal usage should be kept to no more than once a week. It is always a good idea to test for skin sensitivity prior to widespread use and use on the feet when possible.
