Essential Oils Collective Kate Dixon Doterra

33 weeks in and I wanted to share with you the essential oils that I have most frequently used throughout my third pregnancy.

All about the tummy

DigestZen was an absolute star when it came to managing nausea during my first trimester as well as helping to reduce bloating and indigestion throughout. DigestZen contains a blend of Peppermint, Ginger, Fennel, Coriander, Tarragon, Anise and Caraway oils. It is spicy, sweet and very zingy. These essential oils are highly regarded when it comes to digestion.

How I used -

  • After each meal, I would add a drop to a glass of water and enjoy. 

  • Dilute in some fractionated coconut oil rub on the lower abdomen

Bump Oil I popped out early and found the skin on my stomach to be incredibly dry and itchy, especially as I continued to grow and grow.

I created an oil rub that was incredibly nourishing and calming using Rosehip Oil, Fractionated Coconut Oil as well as featuring Frankincense, Roman Chamomile and Lavender essential oils.

  • Frankincense stimulates blood flow and promotes skin-cell growth.

  • Lavender is healing, relaxing and calming.

  • Roman Chamomile is calming and skin regenerating

  • Rosehip Oil is high in important fatty acids and helps to regenerate damaged skin tissue.


You will need a 60ml glass bottle.

  • 30ml Rosehip Oil

  • 30ml Fractionated Coconut Oil (or you could use almond oil)

  • 24 drops of essential oils of your choice (this is a 2% dilution)

On the Snooze

Sleep Support pregnancy is the body’s way of preparing for what can sometimes feel like endless baby nights of broken sleep. I remember during my first pregnancy thinking I was exhausted but it really is nothing compared to the night feeding!

I used a three-pronged approach to promote a restful sleep and I must say, have been sleeping so much better this time around.

How I used -

  • Take a warm bath with ¼ cup magnesium flakes that have been boosted with essential oils. Use oils like Frankincense, Lavender, Chamomile, Cypress, Bergamot, Litsea and Melissa

  • Diffuse lavender peace or balance in the bedroom

  • Roller blend applied to the soles of my feet and pulse points – you can find my recipe here

Lavender Peace is a blend unique to doTERRA. It contains a complex blend of Lavender Flower, Cedarwood, Ho Wood Leaf, Ylang Ylang Flower, Marjoram Leaf, Roman Chamomile Flower, Vetiver Root, Vanilla Bean Absolute, Hawaiian Sandalwood Wood. This perfectly balanced, tranquil blend of essential oils are renowned for their ability to lessen feelings of tension and calm emotions, and support a restful sleep when used aromatically. 

Balance is another doTERRA blend. It has a warm, woody aroma that creates a sense of calm and well-being. We perfectly blend Spruce, Ho Wood, Frankincense, Blue Tansy, and Blue Chamomile with Fractionated Coconut Oil that promotes tranquillity and relaxation. Spruce, one of the oils in dōTERRA Balance, was used by Native Americans for health and spiritual reasons and is still used today to bring harmony to the mind and body. Ho Wood, Blue Tansy, and Blue Chamomile can ease anxious feelings, while Frankincense provides a grounding, balancing effect on emotions.

Aches and Pains

Muscle pain I have suffered terribly with sacrum and glute pain. So much so that my daily 6km walks with the hound all but ceased from about 18 weeks - enter Ice Blue. Ice blue (also known as Deep Blue in the US) is a doTERRA blend of oils that have been specifically combined to nourish muscles and joints. Ice blue is comprised of Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, Helichrysum, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus. These oils work together to soothe and cool tired and aching joints and muscles. 

How I used -

  • Mix a few drops with a carrier oil of your choice (fractionated coconut, sweet almond oil etc.) and apply to sore muscles, it is a WONDERFUL companion to a deep tissue massage! Ice Blue is a potent blend so it is important to always dilute this oil well. 

Nether region..

Haemorrhoids (I thought I’ll save the best until last!) by gawd they are GHASTLY things. In an effort to manage these little guys in the most natural of ways I upped my prune and psyllium husk considerably. Additionally, I used Cypress by splashing a bit of fractionated coconut oil onto a cotton ball with a few drops of Cypress oil and directly to the area of concern. Cypress oil is a bit of a superstar when it comes to the skin and smells heavenly.
