Make Your Own Dishwasher Powder

Essential Oils Collective Kate Dixon Doterra

Dishwasher powder is so very quick to make that I guarantee once you try it, you will never go back to buying commercial (and toxic) varieties again.

You will need:

  • 2 cups of bicarb soda

  • 2 cups of washing soda

  • 1 cup of salt

  • 1/2 cup of citric acid

  • 40 drops of essential oils (I chose Lemon and Wild Orange for their purifying properties)

Throw everything in a food processor or thermi - blitz until combined and then store in an airtight container.

That is it.

I generally use 1 to 2 tablespoons per load depending on the dirt level. If things are really grimy, I also add a cup of white vinegar and 10 drops of Lemon essential oil to the top rack. This normally does the trick and also gives your dishwasher a bit of a clean too.
