Gardening With Essential Oils

Essential Oils Collective Kate Dixon Doterra

I planted my first round of Spring seedlings a few weeks ago. Here in Tassie we are still a little way off planting out the main Summer harvest but leafy greens are a GO.

The silverbeet and baby spinach seedlings are faring well but the same cannot be said for the lettuce. Slugs LOVE lettuce seedlings. I prefer to keep the soil conditions as clean and natural so I am going to give the following essential oil repellent sprays a whirl.

Slug repellent spray

To be applied around the seedlings/plant in a ring to create a barrier.

You will need

  • Spray bottle - I used a 250ml size from Kmart

  • 1 clove of garlic (peeled and bruised)

  • 15 drops of Cypress Essential Oil or Cedarwood Essential Oil

  • 15 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil or Pine Essential Oil

  • 15 drops of Lemon or Wild Orange Essential Oil

  • Top with water

How to

  • Combine all ingredients and shake thoroughly before each use.

  • Spray around seedlings to create a barrier, repeat every few days.
