Essential Oils And Skincare

Essential Oils Collective Kate Dixon Doterra

Before my move to Tasmania I worked for one of Australia’s much coveted skincare companies that heavily feature essential oils in their products. Pregnancy and hormonal skin sensitivity has led me to completely overhaul my skincare regime. I now create all of my own hydration serums using high quality base oils and doTERRA essential oils. Not only do I find the creating a incredibly satisfying process I love that I know exactly what I am putting onto my skin.

The skin is the largest organ of the body, constantly changing to suit its environment and more often than not it is a great indicator of what is going on internally. There are so many different factors that affect our skin, weather, hormones, diet and toxins to name a few.  Keep in mind that the cleansers and hydration blends you create for use in Summer may not be appropriate to use in Winter. Our skin is a living thing and its requirements change throughout the year.

When thinking about creating your own blends for the skin I urge you to do your own research and always start with blending the oils with a high quality, unrefined, organic base oil.

Please note, I am not a dermatologist or aromatherapist. The information below draws on my own personal experience and research. A full reference list can be found below.

Base Oils

  • Jojoba Oil - unclogs pores, is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, wound-healing, easily absorbed into the deepest layers of the skin, hydrophilic and rich in vitamin E

  • Rosehip Oil - high in essential fatty acids and helps to regenerate damaged skin tissue. It stimulates collagen production, is sebum regulating, moisturising, anti-inflammatory and wound healing.
