Testimonials

Carla “Loved the whole thing, thank you so much! Have swapped out pretty much all my cleaning products now...its all so easy! Printed out the pdfs and popped them into a folder as an easy go to for recipes. Fave recipe has been the toilet bombs, super easy to make and they do such a great job!”

Lisa “Thanks to you Kate for putting this programme together and then sharing it with us. Being able to print the recipes to keep is such a bonus. I've made glass cleaner, dishwasher powder, laundry wash which I especially like. Toilet bombs were a bit of a fail but now watching your video I know where I went wrong! So I'd have to say I really appreciate the videos you put together too. I will definitely be replacing the rest of my supermarket products with you recipes as they run out. Looking forward to week 3!”

Jane “ I loved the fact it has motivated me to start using my collection of oils on household things not just in the diffuser! It’s what I needed to give me that push along!”

I can’t wait to support you in creating positive and healthy changes in your home!

Much love xx

The 5 C's

The 5 C's

Hello there!

I shared these words with my fellow doTERRA business builders but I think it relates to every aspect of life so am sharing it here too.

Committed - Capable - Community - Communicative - Collaborative

I've had this on my heart for a little while now but it took reading a book on good horsemanship (specifically a section on the relationship between person and horse) for me to get it OUT. I think it relates beautifully to a doTERRA business

You need to give to your business before you can ask for something back, and that process starts with you - how you think, how you act, the questions you ask yourself and how you show up in your business. Giving to your business starts when you are ready to ask yourself a few questions.*

Am I committed? Will you show up every single day, delivering your energy and focus to your community by sharing how incredible these oils are? By pushing through your fear of rejection and failure to invite people to learn more about a tool that can transform the health and wellbeing of their family. Will you show up when it isn't convenient? When it feels hard? Will you continue to invite, inspire, educate and support even when you receive five 'no's' in a row or when nobody comments or engages in your content?

And equally important, are you 200% committed to doing the personal development that is required to lead a community of people to better health? To lift up the hood of your inner workings and evaluate long held personality traits and behaviours that are holding you back from reaching your potential.

Am I capable? Do you have the skills required to run a business? Are you organised? Can you confidently talk to strangers about oils and how to use them? Do you have sales experience? Are you using your oils in every facet of your life so that you can draw on your own personal experiences when educating others - this is powerful. If you are lacking in some of these areas, are you committed to up-skilling?

Am I community focused? The doTERRA culture is one that is built on service. Are your actions rooted in service? How and what can you do to embody this culture? How do you serve your doTERRA community? How do you serve your wider community? It's very difficult to pour from an empty cup so service starts with each of us. How are we serving and nourishing ourselves each day in order to be able to fully give to those around us.

Am I communicative? Do you ask for help? Your upline and downline are not mind readers nor is your business their responsibility. Each of us are the captains of our doTERRA ship and it is up to us to recognise areas we need support in. My mum always said to us as kids "you don't ask, you don't get". Every single doTERRA leader I have ever approached for support has been incredibly generous with their time because all of them love helping other women rise which brings me to my next point.

Am I collaborative? Now I totally get that some people work better alone but the beautiful thing about the doTERRA model is that communities FIRE when people work together, towards a common goal. The connection with other women all united in lifting others up, determined to make a difference in the lives of others is like nothing I have ever experienced. Be open to working with others. Be a GIVER. Give your community your focus, energy and time. Love on your downline, cross line and upline. Do all of this not to receive anything in return but to experience the joy of helping someone else and then watch what happens. This has been the greatest lesson my business has gifted me.

These 5 traits, their presence or lack of presence can have a massive impact in the growth and stability of your business. If you are missing a few of these vital ingredients your business will give you very little in return and when that happens, it is easy to look to the external and find one hundred other reasons why you are stuck.

When this happens, and it will because it happens to everyone (myself included, multiple times and will keep on happening!) it is important to make a massive effort to get out of your own way, push your shit to one side and go back to service. How can you better serve your community? Every single home needs access to essential oils. We have so much work to do. The greatest gift you can give to those around you is to start shouting from the rooftops how bloody amazing these oils are.

Use your oils, lead the way, speak from the heart and when you stumble, pick yourself up and start it all over again. Be committed, be consistent, serve your community and be open to the gifts that those things will ultimately give you.

xx Kate

Dream - Plan - Action - Growth

Dream.png

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” Eleanor Roosevelt

Our recent trip back to London and Paris stirred up quite a bit of emotion for me. It got me reflecting about my 22 year old self, the woman I am today and the woman I want to be in the future. My time living in London was formative in many ways and shaped who I am today but the experience could have very easily not occurred. I remember sitting with a mate after we had finished our final school exams (of which I failed miserably) hunched over an atlas and dreaming about all the travel we would do but we both got jobs, life happened and my "dream" was just that.

Fast forward five years, I was sitting at work and had a crystal clear moment of realisation that if I continued on this path, I would be in the exact same spot in ten years time. That thought scared the absolute pants off me. Within three weeks I had left Sydney, with a fair amount of criticism from those close to me, landed in London not knowing anyone and without a job. In hindsight, my decision to move to the UK was an impulsive one but at the time, I knew it was the right one.

What I've been ruminating on is where would I be today if that experience had remained a dream? How would my life look? Would I be happy? What sort of a person would I be?

I know for a fact I wouldn't be the Kate I am today without throwing caution to the wind and turning that travel dream into action but even with that experience under my belt, I have spent much of my adult life being held back by fear. Fear of "failure" and an unwillingness to stick it out in the challenging/uncomfortable zone, quitting before I even began. This aspect of my personality, my habitual (and very much unconscious) thoughts and behaviour patterns are something I am now HYPER aware of. I cannot expect a different outcome if I continue to travel down the same path.

I want my future self to be one who can overcome all that. I want to see my big dreams translate into even bigger action, even if it means doing stuff I find uncomfortable, challenging and confronting. I know that it's in this zone where all the juicy stuff is waiting.

What's stopping you?

Tools.png

Did you know only 2% of Australian homes have a doTERRA wholesale customer account? I have a pretty good idea why that's the case but a few weeks ago I asked my insta community what were the reasons holding them back from tooling up with essential oils.

The top 3 reasons 💥Cost, time and to a lesser degree, the business model 💥

Let me break it down for you….

1. Cost - I totally get this. I also understand how difficult it is for people to grasp the true power and versatility of doTERRA essential oils when they have never tried them. You get such massive bang for your buck when it comes to these oils because they can support so many different areas (check out my posts here or my insta feed for more on this). You will save money by using essential oils. I've done multiple cost comparisons for my oily community, the sums don’t lie - $1 for a DIY all purpose spray v’s $3.60 for a store bought option.

2. Time - yup, we are all "busy" but we also have the same 24 hours in each day. There are generally two fixed commitments that you will have trouble flexing...work and family. Everything else = discretionary. Do a time log for 3 days and see where your time is going…socials? Netflix? What are your priorities? Let me tell you something I know for sure...no one has the time or the funds for chronic illness.

3. Business model - Becoming a doTERRA customer means you have to build a business. Nope! There is no big bad oily madwoman rubber arming you into anything. People who want to build a biz, do so because THEY want to. 95% of my oily family are oily customers who LOVE their oils and experience their super powers daily.

If you can hand on heart say you are 100% happy and content with your physical and emotional wellbeing…well, I’d like to know your secret! The truth is, each of us are responsible for our emotional and physical wellbeing and it requires love, care, attention and "work". When I feel at ease in my body and am happy in my thoughts, every aspect of my life benefits.

Essential oils are one tool that I use daily to ensure I am operating at my best. If you are ready to learn more please check the ‘essential oil’ and ‘workshop’ page of this website. Alternatively, drop me an email and I will be happy to chat xx

Change, Habits, Growth

Change BLOG.png

Hello!

I popped to the hair dresser last week, arrived home and sweet Alfie said "oh Mum, you look so beautiful". Maddie took one look at me and giggled. Jason said "bloody hell, are you trying to impersonate Kim Jong-un?". I gave a giant eye-roll, flopped on the lounge where Alfie proclaimed "You can't please everyone, Mum. As long as you like it*, that's what counts." Alfie is a great listener.

That little exchange was a great reminder for me, especially as we head into the final half of 2019. I've been reflecting on the last six months, wondering if the things I am spending my time on are fulfilling? Are my actions moving me closer to or further away from my goals? What relationships are giving me joy and meaning?

This reflective work is something I've always kind of done but this year, it's been happening in more of a structured way. At the end of each quarter, with those questions in mind, I jot down all of the things that have caught my attention, kind of like my "wish list of things to do", then I pick three things that I feel are the most important things for me to focus on. This shapes my actions for the quarter. This may sound anal but ever since Jason's health scare, I have been hyper aware of the fragility of life. I do not want to waste a second, it is all too easy to let time whizz by.

Quarter three will see me start my aromatherapist training, nurture the relationships that are important to me, give my time to two organisations hear (MINDS and Riding for the Disabled) and do some physical work on my body. I know...that's four things BUT you should have seen my list!

Our habits (of which 45% happen unconsciously) drive our routine and our routine charts the course of our life. How is your routine serving you? What changes do you need to make in order to life a more fulfilled, meaningful life. The kind of life that rings your bell loud.

One thing I know for sure is change is hard. We are creatures of habit, our brain loves to play it safe so know that doing something new, carving out new patterns is going to feel uncomfortable but it's in that sticky zone where all the good stuff is. Lean into that.

Sleep

Sleep.png

Sleep, she can be an illusive minx at times but so incredibly important for our overall health. When we sleep poorly, our mood is impacted, we move through the day feeling sluggish and irritable. If you are anything like me, being tired will see me make really shitty choices when it comes to diet - hello carbs and sugar.

Without proper sleep, we put ourselves at risk for serious health issues that will impact our quality of life. Sleep deprivation:

·Can make it difficult for us to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight

·Can negatively influence our emotions and how we behave throughout the day

·Can impact how we learn or influence our motivation levels

·Can have a negative impact on nearly any of the body’s organ systems, which influences overall health

Just as sleep deprivation can negatively affect how we feel each day, getting quality sleep can help improve our quality of life.

So, what makes essential oils useful for sleep? How do they work? Well, every essential oil has a different chemical makeup with a unique combination of chemical constituents. These chemicals are what give an essential oil its benefits. Certain chemicals can make an essential oil useful for cleansing, soothing, or warming, while other chemicals might make an oil calming, invigorating, or cooling. Because each oil is taken from a different plant or plant part, each oil has a completely unique chemical profile, and thus a completely unique set of benefits.

By choosing essential oils with chemicals that hold relaxing, calming, or soothing benefits, it is easy to use oils to promote a peaceful environment for sleep.

Here’s how it works. When you inhale the aroma of an essential oil with calming properties, it can induce a response in the body or brain for relaxation. Typically, this type of reaction helps relax the body and promote a restful night of sleep. Once you’ve had a good night of sleep after using a specific oil, the brain makes a connection between the smell of the oil and the quality sleep. This is called a positive association. An established positive association promotes further use of the oil in your regular bedtime routine to help you repeat the practice of a good night’s sleep.

The following essential oils have calming, soothing, relaxing, harmonizing, and grounding properties. Try one or a combination of two or three that appeal to you - Bergamot, Cedarwood, Roman Chamomile, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Lavender, Lavender Peace, Marjoram, Melissa, Sandalwood, Vetiver, YlangYlangand dōTERRAPeace®

sleep oils.jpg

My best piece of advice is to experiment with different combinations as well as different application methods.

Set up an oily bedtime ritual, mine looks like this:

💖No tablet or phone time from 7pm onwards.
💖Magnesium flakes or epsom salt bath infused with my fave blend - aromatouch.
💖Post shower I love massaging Frankincense and Lavender onto my chest and into the soles of my feet
💖 If I am really struggling - doTERRA Serenity softgels - natural sleep aid...no groggy feeling the next day.
💖Reading, reading and more reading.
💖Life long vitality supplements - these were pivotal for me during the lead to Jason's heart surgery. I was pregnant and waking at 2am every single morning without being able to go back to sleep (this was actually WHY I turned to doTERRA in the first place) but 3 weeks of LLV and using calming oils...solid night of sleep right up until the Pud arrived.
💖Diffuse all the calming oils - lavender, cedarwood, Frank and Copaiba.
💖Vetiver on the back of my neck.
💖Meditation apps which I know are not meant to be used to fall asleep but sometimes it's necessary!

The important thing is to be consistent with your use of essential oils, frequent use is the key to unlocking their superpowers! Stay flexible and be switch things up if you are not seeing results.

"Home is where the heart is..."

"Home isn't a place, it's a feeling..."

"We carry our home within us, to enable us to fly..." John Cage

For the last few weeks, I've been pondering the notion of "home" and reflecting on the many moves I've made (most with the family in tow) over the last 16 years. Now that the dust has kinda settled on this move and we are finding a bit of a routine, the longing for "home" has hit me straight in the heart.

I remember when I moved to London at the ripe old age of 22, without knowing a single soul, the same thing happened. A few months in and BOOM - hits you like a freight train.

I can't really put my finger on it but I feel a deep longing to wake up in my own "home", take a wander down to Clifton Beach with the Winter air in my lungs and the hound at my side. I've had some moments of "what the F*&K are we doing here?" which I know is normal and will absolutely pass.

It's funny, we only moved to Tassie three years ago but I've said it multiple times...there is something so very magical about that place. It gets under your skin. All these feelings have got me wondering about what "home" actually means. I guess it's different for everyone and no doubt a combination of many different factors.

Anyhoo, one day at a time and all that. I recognise how very fortunate we are to be having this experience but for today, I'm going to sit down and have a cuppa with the way I'm feeling, acknowledge it and then walk it all out the back door. It's easy to avoid the uncomfortable feelings but in my experience avoidance of this stuff only creates a bigger problem later on. feel it within every inch of my body, acknowledge it and let it move on by.

The might Rose and Console are getting a thorough work out, massaged over the heart xx

Seasonal Change

During my yoga training we learnt about the Ayurvedic approach to health and wellness. The key thing I took away from Ayurvedic teachings is that we are all individual. There is no one size fits all solution when it comes to supporting our emotional and physical health.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We each need to consider our personal constitution, age, surrounding climate and season. With the southern hemisphere fast approaching Winter, have you tweaked your wellness routine? With the cooling weather, you will notice something deep inside pulling at you to slow down? Acknowledge it and honour it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Find some time to make some tweaks to your diet, sleeping patterns, social activities and exercise regieme. What we need will differ from person to person, that's why it is important to cultivate some time in your day and/or week to check in with how you are feeling. Reflect and think critically about your routine. Is it giving you all you need for this moment in time?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Since being in Singapore, I've had to completely overhaul how I eat, exercise, supplement and care for my skin. I'm craving cool, light foods and have noticed my appetite has decreased significantly, smoothies and salads are all I managing to get down the hatch. I'm drinking at least 4 to 5 litres of water a day to combat the truckloads of fluids I am loosing in sweat. The heat is exhausting and I have started taking mito max daily to support energy levels. I'm doing a stack of walking and spending a lot of time in the pool. My skin is producing a lot of oil, the only additional hydration I am needing is Yarrow|Pom in the evening.
